Nil Schaps has been with Akol & Yoshii since 1972 and has 35 years of experience in the organization and management of projects. She serves as liaison between the firm¹s design teams and its clients, consultants, and relevant regulatory agencies. She is also responsible for the general management and administration of the firm.

Nil has comprehensive knowledge of the procedures and requirements of the various governmental agencies involved in school construction – the Division of the State Architect, California State Department of Education, Office of Public School Construction, the California Community Colleges – and works closely with the firm’s other principals, project managers, consultants, and clients to ensure that all such requirement are met and all necessary approvals are obtained.

She is also knowledgeable about public contract code compliance requirements. She assists with the gathering of information from clients, school site personnel, and community representatives, and she oversees a range of public relation activities relating to projects. She assists with formulating each project’s scope of work, budget, and schedule; coordinating presentations and approvals of project phases; and developing bid documents. She assists with pre-bid and post-bid activities and documents. During construction, she assists with a variety of construction administration activities until project closeout, client occupancy, and final governmental certifications.
